What a check can tell you, and what it can't
Phone Checker is a free tool that helps you decide. It compares what a phone's browser can measure with what the model should show. It is not a guarantee.
What a check can't tell you
- Whether a phone is stolen, blacklisted or still being paid for. Ask the seller for the box and receipt, and check the IMEI with your network.
- Everything about a phone. A browser can't see every part. A clever fake can show some of the same readings as a real phone, and an original phone can differ (power saving, a new screen, an update).
- A verdict that is final. "Original" means every hardware check we could run matched the model. "Couldn't confirm" means something differed, or we're still confirming that model's details: test the parts and look carefully. A model we're still confirming never gets "Not an original".
Use the report as one of the things you weigh up, with the phone in your hands, before you pay. You decide whether to buy, and we aren't part of any sale.
Saved reports and the listing picture
- A saved report shows the phone as it was on the day it was checked, and can't be edited. Anyone with its link can open it.
- A picture of a report can be edited; the report itself can't. Scan the picture's QR code and check the address starts with ogphonechecker.com.
- Only share a report or its picture for the phone that was checked. Using it for another phone, or changing what it says, misleads buyers: we will delete reports used that way.
Using the site
- The check is free, and you may use it as often as you like for phones you are buying, selling or own.
- Don't try to break the site, send it false readings in bulk, or copy it to run as your own.
- The tests ask for the camera, microphone and motion sensors only when you start them, and only on the phone being checked.
Brands
Phone Checker is independent. It isn't made by, connected to or approved by Samsung, Apple, Google, Tecno, Infinix, itel, Xiaomi or any other phone maker. Their names are used only to say which phone was checked, and belong to them.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep the check accurate, but it is given as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for a decision to buy or not to buy a phone, or for any loss that follows from it. Nothing here takes away your rights under Zambian consumer law.
